In an episode from last season's SATC, the personal shopper of Samantha's boyfriend catches her naked, gapes, and chokes out "Wow".
"Pilates", Samantha says, and smiles her catlike smile.

Pilates Bootcamp dates

There are still a few places left for the bootcamp (dates below). The Bootcamp is an hour and a half session using weighted balls, resistance bands, rollers and focuses on progressing you just that little but further - and hopefully finding a few muscles that you didn't know existed!

Sat 12th July: 13:00 - 14:30pm

Sat 12th July: 14:30 - 16:00pm

Sat 19th July: 13:00 - 14:30pm

The classes will be held at the Crescent Resource Centre, Lower Earley and costs £10.00 per session. Please email me at: claire@powerofpilates.co.uk to reserve your space.

To Emma and Roger on the birth on Samuel Edward Thwaites who was born last night weighing in at 7lb 12oz. Both mum and baby are doing great and all the Thursday 17:45 class look forward to meeting Samuel soon!

Don't miss out!

The next 7 week cycle starts week commencing 21 July. As always, you will all receive a renewal email and by using your unique member no and your email address you will have 5 days advance notice to re-book your space before the places go out to the general public.

Please take advantage of this if you do want to re-book; as some of you found last time, the places go very quickly once the are opened up and you could miss you place.

Remember, you don't have to pay there and then when you book early - it is purely to give you an advantage. If you have any classes to make up, please remember that these must be taken before the new cycle begins so let me know as soon as you can.

Move of the month...

Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the 8 key principles of Pilates, starting with Concentration and Breathing.

Concentration:
Pilates requires a mind / body connection with no distractions, keeping your mind on the movement and the purpose of the movement. Pilates requires you to focus your mind on each and every movement and to become aware of how your body moves and how to work it effectively.

"It is the mind itself that builds the body" Joseph Pilates.

Breathing:
Correct breathing provides a good flow of oxygen, cleansing the bloodstream and energising the muscles. The breathing pattern in Pilates is designed to help correct muscle recruitment. In general, we breathe in to prepare for a movement and breathe out to engage core and execute the movement. You always exhale on the hardest part of the movement as this provides the greatest core stability and prevents tensing.
