Katy Digby - Your Pilates instructor
My background has always been sport and following a
serious knee injury I was inspired to study Sports Therapy. I graduated with
a degree in 2005, qualifying me to diagnose and treat injuries, implement
rehabilitation programmes, as well as sports massage and stretching
techniques.
Sports Therapy led me to Pilates and I found that in
conjunction with their sports therapy treatment, I was consistently
referring clients to Pilates to help with their rehabilitation. I wanted to
further my own knowledge in this area, so in March 2010 I qualified as a
Level 3 instructor.
Since qualifying I have been teaching one-to-one sessions
and using the principles of Pilates and Pilates based exercises as an
integral part of many of my patients rehabilitation and their return to
sport, or comfortable pain free everyday living. Therefore, I have seen
first hand how valuable and positive Pilates is, and can be, for each
individual.
I first met Claire nearly a year ago just after I had
qualified as an instructor. For nearly a year I have been attending classes
twice weekly of varied ability at the Power of Pilates studio gaining
experience of teaching group classes. Pilates here is individual, sessions
are intimate with small class numbers and tailored to everyone’s needs. I’m
looking forward to continuing this ethos which is Power of Pilates.
